Deputy Director General, Independent Evaluation Department, Asian Development Bank
Sona Shrestha is Deputy Director General of the Independent Evaluation Department (IED) of the Asian Development Bank. She has over 20 years of policy, project and evaluation experience. Sona joined ADB in 2003, after working as Economist and Senior Economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia for 3 years. Prior to joining IED, Sona served as ADB’s Assistant Secretary, Director for Public Management, Financial Sector and Trade in the Southeast Regional Department, Deputy Country Director for Indonesia, and Principal Country Economist for the Philippines. Sona has extensive operations experience, leading projects primarily in the areas macroeconomic management, crisis recovery response, private sector and financial sector development, and public financial management across several countries in Central West, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Sona has a doctorate in Economics from the University of California and a BA in Economics from Smith College.
